Green Retreat

Garden at Wandsworth Cottage

Over three years ago, Patalab Architects completed the building works at Wandsworth Cottage in South London. Today, we’re delighted to share the latest photos captured by photographer Mischa Haller, showcasing the now flourishing rear garden – a green retreat hidden from the busyness of the city.

Urban Oasis

This once simple outdoor space has been transformed into a lush urban oasis. The narrow but long, rectangular garden is structured with three raised planting beds, arranged in an alternating pattern. These beds frame a pathway that seamlessly connects two terrace areas – one adjacent to the kitchen, and a more intimate space near the yoga studio at the garden’s far end.

Designed by Adolfo Harrison Gardens, this green retreat is a sensory delight. The garden features a carefully curated selection of perennial plants, each chosen for their edible or medicinal qualities. From fragrant rosemary and Tulbaghia (Society Garlic) to robust Elephant Garlic and the delicate Japanese Wineberry, every plant serves both a functional and aesthetic purpose.
